Gameweek 5 Tips

Top Tips for Gameweek 5

After a weekend break for international matches, including European Championship qualifying, players return to their clubs to prepare for gameweek 5 of the Fantasy Premier League this weekend. The key match of the round looks to be Manchester United against Liverpool at Old Trafford, which will surely be a spectacle as the heavyweight go at it. The deadline for all your transfers, wildcards and captain nominations for Gameweek 5 is 11:45am (BST) on the 12th of September. Lets have a look at the top player tips for gameweek 5:

Top Player Tips

1) André Ayew £7.2m (Swansea City)

Our first player tip for gameweek 5 is Swansea City new speedy winger André Ayew. Ayew has been in top form this season so far following his free transfer from Marseille, with 3 goals and 1 assists, which included a goal against each of Chelsea and Manchester United. His speed and trickery make him an absolute nightmare for defenders, and his goals and creativity have helped Swansea up to fourth place on the EPL ladder currently. His linkup play with Bafétimbi Gomis & Gylfi Sigurðsson mean Swansea have a high quality attack line including speed, power, and skill. Gameweek 5 sees high flying Swansea away to newly promoted Watford. Watford are yet to win on their return the Premier League this season, but have 2 clean sheets from 4. Swansea should be far too strong for the Premier League new boys and Ayew is a good chance of a goal or assists for gameweek 5.

2) Callum Wilson £5.7m (Bournemouth)

Our second tip for Gameweek 5 is Bournemouth’s star striker Callum Wilson. At £5.7m Wilson a nice cheap option as your third striker, and he’s hit 4 goals in his past 2 premier league games, including a hat trick in Bournemouth’s win over West Ham. Wilson looks like he’s making the step to the Premier League class, after his impressive haul of 20 goals in the Championship last season. This guy scores goals for fun. Bournemouth take on fellow newcomers Norwich City in gameweek 5, followed by a home match to last placed Sunderland in gameweek 6. Those two fixtures look juicy enough for us to see a good goal scoring probability for Callum Wilson over the next fortnight, which is why he’s out second player tip for gameweek 5.

3) Boaz Myhill £4.5m (West Bromwich Albion)

And lastly, our third and final player tip for gameweek 5 is West Bromwich Albion’s Boaz Myhill. Thanks to the arrival of Tony Pulis, West Bromwich Albion have a fantastic clean sheet record during his time there, setting his teams up not the concede and hit the opposition on the break. Last season West Bromwich had the second most clean sheets in the league, with 16 cleans sheets from their 38 matches. With two cleans in 4 matches so far this season, and the signing of center back Jonny Evans from Manchester United, it’s looking like it’ll be a similar story this season. Gameweek 5 sees West Bromwich at home to Southampton, who have not had the best of starts to the season – including getting eliminated from the Europa League (perhaps a blessing for them!). Southampton also has a good defensive record last season, so this one could fizzle out into a 0-0 draw with both teams happy with a clean sheet. Myhill is filling in for injured first choice keeper Ben Foster, and should continue between the sticks for them this weekend.
