Just a few team were in action midweek with FA Cup replays, but the Premier League is back this weekend with Gameweek 24 of the Fantasy Premier League. A reminder for FPL Managers that their January Wildcard needs to be played before the 7th of February at 11:30am GMT when round 24 starts. As you might expect then, changes for Gameweek 24 need to be finalized by the 11:30am (GMT) on the 07th February 11:30am GTM. Lets check out our top tips for Gameweek 24 for Fantasy Premier League managers:
1) David Silva £9.4m (Manchester City)
Manchester City’s form has taken a dip of late, managing only 2 draws and a loss (at the hand of Arsenal at home) in their past three matches. But things are looking better for them for Gameweek 24 when they entertain relegation battlers Hull City at home. It’s a much needed match against ‘easier’ opposition from lower down the table. (Hull currently sit in 18th place on the Premier League Table). City really need a win and to find some form to get their season back on track, and they’ll be looking to their two main attacking threats David Silva and Sergio Agüero to create the goals that they need. Sergio Agüero is still getting back to match fitness after him injury over Christmas, though is looking sharper and sharper each week. But we’ve gone with David Silva as our tip for this week, as he’s fully fit and will be pulling the string on Manchester City attacks. If they are going to score, you can be sure Silva will be part of it – and he was on the score sheet in Gameweek 23 with a goal too. Silva is owned by 17.4% of teams, lower than the 23.5% teams that own Sergio Agüero – so Silva could be a nice differentiator going into the gameweek. Manchester City’s matches in gameweeks 25 & 26 take them away to Stoke and then at home to Newcastle United, both of which they will be expecting to win.
2) Patrick van Aanholt £4.2m (Sunderland)
For FPL managers looking for a cheaper option at the back, Patrick van Aanholt is a nice options after slotting back into their starting 11 upon his return to fitness. van Aanholt is similar in style to his fellow ex-Chelsea left back Ryan Bertrand, solid in defense and likes to get forward and join attacks where he can. A clean sheet and assist (his third of the season) in Gameweek 23 will have put him on the radar of many managers, so that price tag of £4.2m is sure to rise in the coming rounds. Not only is Aanholt a thread going forward, he has some good clean sheet potential coming up over the next three gameweeks. Gameweek 24 sees Sunderland visit Swansea City, who are without the suspended Sigurdsson and have not replaced their key goal scorer Bony following his sale to Manchester City. Sunderland then they have two home matches to lower table teams, Queens Park Rangers and West Bromwich Albion. All three carry a high clean sheet chance for Sunderland, who have managed 8 clean sheets from their 23 EPL matches this season so far.
3) Eden Hazard £10.8m (Chelsea)
Our third tip of the week may seem like an obvious one, but you might be surprised to know that only around 36% of Fantasy Premier League teams have Hazard in their squad. With Cesc Fabregas injured and Diego Costa suspended, Hazard will be the key creative force in Chelsea’s attack for the coming weeks – as shown by his assist to Remy against Manchester City in Gameweek 23. Chelsea will be licking their lips in anticipation of Gameweek 24 which sees them travel to 16th placed Aston Villa, who conceded 5 goals goals against an Alexis Sanches-less Arsenal last weekend. Chelsea look a good tip right across the park against Aston Villa – given not only their recent defensive record, but their dismal attacking record. Villa have the worst attacking record in the league, having scored only 11 goals in their 23 matches, and have not scored a goal in the Premier League since before Christmas! Hazard is pricy, at £10.8m, but he has picked up 139 points in the Fantasy Premier League this season, only Alexis Sanchez (who is still injured) has scored more points.
