The Premier League fixtures keep coming thick and fast after a full round of matches on Boxing Day. It’s a quick turnaround to Gameweek 19 with matches played on Sunday and Monday. Changes for Gameweek 19 need to be finalized by 11:30am (GTM) on the 28th of December. Lets analyse the top picks for Gameweek 19 for Fantasy Premier League managers:
1) Charlie Austin £6.1m (QPR)
Yes it’s time for that deadly home ground man again, Charlie Austin, to get into our picks to Gameweek 19. After tackling Arsenal away from home on boxing day and picking himself up a goal, QPR now have 2 home matches in a row. The first is at home against 18th placed Crystal Palace, who are coming off a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Southampton. Then on New Years day they are at home to 8th placed Swansea. With both those games at home, it should favour Austin to bag some points as his home form is simply astounding! From 9 home matches for QPR in the Premier League this season, Charlie Austin has scored 9 goals and 3 assists. (But he’s 8 goals in his last 5 home matches) Only Diego Costa and Sergio Aguero have scored more Premier League goals than Austin this year, having 12 to his name. So naturally Austin is high on our picks for points for both Gameweek 19 and Gameweek 20, and at £6.1m he’s very affordable for all Fantasy Premier League Managers.
2) David Silva £9.0m (Manchester City)
Our second pick is the a player who was also our pick for Gameweek 18, where is scored a goal and an assist, it’s David Silva. Just like QPR above, in-form Manchester City now have two home games in a row and both are against teams in the lower half of the table. Gameweek 19 sees Manchester City entertain newly promoted 19th placed Burnley at home, who are coming off a defeat to Liverpool. Then on New Years day Manchester City host 15th placed Sunderland, who are coming off a defeat to Hull City. Manuel Pellegrini pulled Silva off after 62min against West Brom on Friday, with his side already 3 goals ahead. It was a clever move, to keep his creative players fresh, during such a congested fixture period. Silva has 3 goals and an assist in his past two matches, both of which were played without City fielding a striker. His creativity and eye for goal are key to Manchester City’s attack right now, and he’s looking good for more points during both Gameweek 19 and Gameweek 20.
2) Bojan Krkic £5.0m (Stoke City)
Our third any final pick for gameweek 19 is former Barcelona man Bojan, who is starting to settle into the pace of the Premier League and find some form. Particularly against Arsenal in Gameweek 15, Bojan has been putting in some impressive performances, which winding electric runs much in the same vein as Alexis Sanchez. He picked up the winning goal against Everton on Boxing Day, which will fill hime with confidence for Gameweek 19 which sees Stoke City at home to 15th place West Brom. At £5.0m Bojan is cheaper that both Charlie Austin and Harry Kane, so ideal for those FPL Managers looking for a dirt cheap striker to rotate in. Other good news for FPL Managers looking at Bojan is, as mentioned in our Gameweek 21-30 Fixture Analysis, Stoke’s upcoming 10 matches consists of seven games against teams in the lower half of the table. So Bojan could be a longer term move for the cold months of winter.
