It’s a quick turnaround this week as Gameweek 14 occurs midweek. There will be a round of fixtures on Tuesday and Wednesday night in the UK, so be sure to manage your Fantasy Premier League teams before hand. Changes for Gameweek 14 need to be finalized by 19:30 (GTM) on the 02th of December.
1) Wayne Rooney £10.3m (Manchester United)
Injuries and suspensions that came up throughout Gameweek 13 has brought about some much needed tinkering by Fantasy Premier League managers for Gameweek 14. Angel Di Maria (in 38% of teams) picked up a hamstring injury and Diego Costa (in 58% of teams) is suspended after accumulating up 5 yellow cards. Both those players will be out of action for the midweek round and represent a large investment, so Fantasy Premier League managers will need to decide whether to wait it out, or re-invest that money elsewhere. One such option is Manchester United’s captain Wayne Rooney. Rooney has scored a goals in the past two gameweeks, and scored on internation duty against Slovenia and Scotland in early November. He’s in top form and picked up his goal against Hull after Di Maria was withdrawn. Manchester United are at home to Stoke for gameweek 14 and with Rooney’s price less than Diego Costa, this could be a handy short term transfer. Rooney did pick up a knock towards the end of the Hull match, but competed the game and has said he’ll be ready to face Stoke.
2) Aaron Cresswell £5.4m (West Ham)
For those Fantasy Premier League managers who have Southampton defenders, given their extremely difficult run of fixtures for the remainder of 2014, it may be time to rotate things at the back with players from clubs with an ‘easier’ run. One such teams defense to look at is Big Sam’s West Ham United. West Ham’s next four matches are all against mid to lower table clubs: West Brom (Away), Swansea (Home), Sunderland (Away) and Leicester (Home) so they are a good chance of picking up clean sheets. While West Ham have only kept 3 clean sheets this season to date (all coming at home), they’ve let in only a single goal in 5 other matches. So their is good potential for them to keep things a little tidier at the back and convert those 1’s in to clean sheets. Aaron Cresswell got on the score sheet in West Ham’s 1-0 win over Newcastle United in Gameweek 13. His probing runs down the left flank where a constant threat, looking to add to his 2 assists to the campaign so far. He could be a good option to pick up a few points at the back over the coming weeks.
3) Ross Barkley £6.8m (Everton)
One players who has been traveling under the radar this season is Everton’s Ross Barkley. After showing much promise last season and having impressive cameo’s at the Fifa World Cup in Brazil, but things were tipped of Barkley. But injury stuck him down and he missed the first 7 Gameweeks of the season. Having been carefully nurtured back to full fitness, Barkley is starting to deliver the performances that we’d expect of him. He’s picked up two assists already, from his limited game time (345mins). He’s been involved in 21 goal attempts and already has more successful dribbled that any other Everton Midfielder. With Lukaku and Eto’o up front, he has some clinical strikers that he can feed the ball to. Gameweek 14 sees Everton at home to Hull City who let in 3 goals against an injury struck Manchester United team. Barkley looks like a player on the rise and one that Fantasy Premier League managers should monitor in the coming weeks.
