It’s nearly time to look ahead to Gameweek 36 tips, but before we do congratulations are in order for Chelsea, who were crowned Premier League Champions for season 2014-15 last weekend following there 1-0 win over Crystal Palace. Jose Mourinho just knows what it takes to win the Premier league and has triumphed once again. It was also Chelsea’s 17th clean sheet of the season, which has once agin been a feature of their play this season. Christian Benteke and Sergio Aguero also continued their goal scoring runs, Benteke has 10 in 8 matches while Aguero has 5 in 4 matches. There are only three more round of the Fantasy Premier League this season, it’s time for one more final push for points to win your mini-leagues. Don’t forget Arsenal’s up coming double gameweek in gameweek 37, be sure to plan your transfers ahead of time. All transfers, line-ups and captain nominations for Gameweek 36 need to be locked in by the 11:30am (GMT) on the 9th of May. Without further ado, lets have a look at our top tips for Gameweek 36 for Fantasy Premier League managers:
1) Alexis Sánchez £11.3m (Arsenal)
Our first FPL tip for gameweek 36 is Arsenal’s Chilean ace Alexis Sanchez. Sanchez is having an absolutly stellar debut EPL season after his transfer to Arsenal from Barcelona in the summer. Some players take their time to ajust to the speed of the Premier League when they arrive from the central European leagues, but Sanchez just hit the ground running. But while Arsenal where on their 8 game winning streak, he did have a personal dip in FPL point scoring through February and March – perhaps symptomatic of his first busy christmas period of premier league football. His price drop, from 11.5 to 11.2 through that period tells the tale of his points stream running dry. Sanchez was also recently overlooked for the FPA Player of the Year award, which went to Chelsea’s Edin Hazard. Many fans (especially Arsenal ones) felt that Sanchez should have won it. But as if to answer his critics all in one go, on Monday night Sanchez stepped up and bagged two goals and three bonus points to a 15 point haul for the gameweek. He looks super sharp and ready to inflict some pain on opponents defenses once again. As discussed last week, the benefit of Arsenal players at the moment is that while there are only 3 gameweeks remaining in the FPL, Arsenal have four matches due to their double gameweek 37. So ensuring you have 3 Arsenal players for Gameweek 37 is a must do task for FPL managers. Gameweek 36 sees Sanchez and Arsenal back at home at the Emirates taking on 8th placed Swansea. Swansea are coming off the back of a moral boosting win against Stoke last weekend, so they won’t be pushovers. But with Arsenal in third place on the table on points difference below second placed Manchester City, they’ll be pushing hard for both a win and goals in order to bridge the 2 goal difference between the clubs. So expect Arsenal to come out firing and push hard for that second place league finish.
2) Boaz Myhill £4.1m (West Bromwich Albion)
Our second tip for Gameweek 36 is in form West Bromwich Albion keeper Boaz Myhill. Myhill has stepped into the fold after first choice goalkeeper Ben Foster picked up an injury in mid March against Stoke. It took a while for Myhill to settle in goal, but West Bromwich Albion have really hit form at the back again, managing 3 clean sheets in a row. What is more impressive is that two of those clean sheets were against Liverpool and Manchester United in gameweeks 34 and 35 – not the easiest thing to do at the best of times. That re-found defensive resilience has propelled West Brom up the table to 13th and to the 40 point mark, which usually signifies safety from relegation. Tony Pulis’ men have now managed 15 clean sheets for the season, the same amount as Southampton. Only champions Chelsea have more clean sheets in the Premier League this season with 17. Myhill himself has been a stand out in recent weeks, saving a Robin Van Persie penalty last weekend and picking up 6 bonus points on the past 3 matches. Gameweek 36 sees West Bromwich Albion at home to free falling Newcastle United. Newcastle have lost their last 8 Premier League games, in what is one of their worst runs ever. They’re without a point since February and with West Broms good defensive form, there’s a good chance of another clean sheets.
3) Sergio Agüero £12.6m (Manchester City)
Our third and final pick for gmaeweek 36 is red hot Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero. The Argentinian marksman is back to doing what he does best, scored goal after goal in the Premier League. Aguero has now scored in each of Manchester City’s last four Premier League matches, knocking home 5 goals in the process. He’s on track to collect the golden boot for most goal this season with 22, 2 goals ahead of his closes competitor Harry Kane. Despite his hot form, Aguero’s FPL ownership is only at 26.8% – which means only about a quarter of teams have Aguero in their lineup. Gameweek 36 sees Manchester City at home to 19th placed Queens Park Rangers who have the worst defensive record in thew league, having conceded 61 goals this season so far. Manchester City on the other hand, are averaging 2.12 goals per home game in the Premier League this season. So there will be goals for City, and you just know that Aguero is going to have his name on the score sheet once again. Aguero is our pick for Captain this week.
