After mid week Champions League action, we are back for Gameweek 34 of the Fantasy Premier League this weekend. In Gameweek 33 it was Chelsea’s star man and FPL top points scorer Eden Hazard, who scored the crucial goal against third placed Manchester United. The result puts Chelsea a formidable 10 points clear of Arsenal, at the top of the Premolar League table, and we go into a mouth watering top of the table clash this weekend. Chelsea need only a further 8 points from their last 5 matches to be crowned Champions, fewer of Arsenal drop points. Last weekend we also saw Leicester City pick up an impressive 2-0 victory over Swansea, which puts them back in touch with their rivals at the bottom of the table. Only goal difference (it’s a single goal) has them still in the relegations positions below Hull. The race for survival it’s going to keep us entertained right to the wire.
Looking ahead to gameweek 34, there are 12 matches to be played this gameweek. There are double gameweeks for Liverpool, Hull, Chelsea and Leicester. This is great news for Fantasy League managers, as it’s a wonderful opportunity to capitalize on the extra odds for points. So FPL Managers should keep this in mind when making their transfers for this weekend. Changes for Gameweek 34 need to be finalized by the 11:30am (GMT) on the 25th of April.
Lets check out our top tips for Gameweek 34 for Fantasy Premier League managers:
1) Raheem Sterling £8.5m (Liverpool)
Our first tip for Gameweek 34 is Liverpool’s key attacking arrow Raheem Sterling. This week we’re picking Raheem Sterling to take it up a gear and finish the season on a high. Sterling has been all over the English press for the past few weeks due to not yet agreeing to sign a new contract with Liverpool. They’ve made a sizable contract offer for the young Englishman, but he’s waiting till the end of the season before considering his options. That has put their competitors on red alert, with lots of talk of a potential swap deal with Arsenal’s Theo Walcott. But despite all the off field media attention, it was business as usual for Liverpool and Sterling last Monday night, as Serling got himself on the score sheet with an early goal. Sterling has a goal and an assist in his past two matches, and 7 goals and 10 assists for the season. When it comes to picking players with the easiest set of fixtures to maximise your return on points, Liverpool are sitting top of the opportunity pile this week. After brushing off Newcastle last Monday night, Liverpool’s next three fixtures see them line up against 14th placed West Bromwich Albion (Away) then 17th placed Hull City (Away), followed by 18th placed Queens Park Rangers (Home). Liverpool have a double gameweek for round 34, playing their two matches away to strugglers West Bromwich Albion and Hull. They will be keep to keep the pressure on the stumbling Manchester City for that 4th Champions League spot. Sterling is a great tip for Captain for gameweek 34.
2) Eden Hazard £11.3m (Chelsea)
Our second pick for fantasy league managers is potential PFA player of the year, Chelsea’s Eden Hazard. The young Belgian has absolutely sparkled this season once again. Hazard has 13 goals and 9 assists this season, a haul that sees him top the point scoring leaderboard in the Fantasy Premier League this season. During Gameweek 33 Hazard again popped up with the winning goal, meaning he’s now managed a goal or assists in each of his last four premier league games. His creative flair and ability to score or setup chances for his team has allowed Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho to setup his team in a defensive style, giving up possession but still managing consistent victories. Yet despite Hazard leading the points table, and having the highest points-per-game rating this season – his ownership is still only at 44.3%…most likely due to his high price. Gameweek 34 sees Chelsea lining up twice in a double gameweek for them, first a top of the table clash with Arsenal, followed by a trip to Leicester City. Both wins could wrap up the Premier League crown, but time will tell if it is indeed Chelsea’s season. Hazard has shown that he’s a threat even against the best defense, and a double gameweek gives you twice the chances of racking up more points for your team.
3) Jordan Henderson £6.7m (Liverpool)
Our third and final tip for Fantasy League Managers for Gameweek 34 is another midfield maestro having a stellar season, Jordan Henderson. The young Englishman has been a key driving force in Liverpool’s revival this season, after a slow start. In his last 6 league matches Henderson has 4 goals and 2 assists – a handy points haul from a mid priced midfielder. That goal haul has been supplemented by taking over penalty duties, one of the many area’s where he has stepped up this season and is growing into the boots Liverpool legend Steven Gerard will empty at the end of the season. It is become a theme of Brendan Rogers’ regime at Liverpool, to develop his young players who have much potential and help that reach the highest that they could. Henderson was signed for big money from Sunderland a few seasons ago, but is only now starting to show the quality that was expected of him. He’s a ‘never stop running’ all action midfielder, and that means he’s always in amongst the action – hoping to be in the right place at the right time. His points form is great for any FPL Team, but the fact that Liverpool have a double gameweek for round 34 against two regulation battling teams means Liverpool players who carry an attacking threat and a must have. Liverpool look a good bet for points for FPL managers this gameweek.
