Just six gameweeks remain for the season, as we approach Gameweek 33 of the Fantasy Premier League this weekend. In Gameweek 32 we saw Chelsea take one more step towards the Premier League crown with another win, Arsenal made it 8 league wins in a row, and defending champions Manchester City drop points once again, this time at the hands of local rivals Manchester United. The pick of the Gameweek 33 fixtures has to be Chelsea vs Manchester United, which could have a big impact on the final top four places. But Gameweek 33 has the potential to be rather tricky for some FPL managers because it’s a reduced round. There are only 7 matches to be played, with QPR, Sunderland, Aston Villa, Liverpool, Hull and Arsenal all having their matches rescheduled for a later date. That means Fantasy Premier League teams need to manage their squads and ensure they’ve got as many starters as possible to maximise points. Looking ahead, Liverpool, Hull, Chelsea and Leicester City have a double gameweek 34 – so something to keep in mind with transfers. Changes for Gameweek 33 need to be finalized by the 11:30am (GMT) on the 18th of April.
Lets check out our top tips for Gameweek 33 for Fantasy Premier League managers:
1) Sergio Agüero £12.5m (Manchester City)
Our first tip for Gameweek 33 is Manchester City’s powerful Argentinian forward Sergio Aguero. City’s form has taken a massive turn over the past 8 weeks having lost 4 matches to Liverpool, Burnley, Crystal Palace and Manchester United, in their past 8 Premier League matches. That form, in addition to crashing out of the Champions League, has let to a lot of media to predict the sacking of manager Manuel Pellegrini. There will certainly be an overhaul of their squad in the summer, as the look to bounce back. But its has not all been doom and gloom for Sergio Agüero. Having not scored in 5 gameweeks, his FPL price has crashed down from £13.0 to £12.5 this week. Last weekend Aguero finally broke his drought with a double to cross city rival Manchester United and picked up 2 bonus points for a 12 point FPL haul. Those two goals will have done him the world of good, boosting his confidence and opening the floodgates for a big finish to the season. Lets not forget that he has still scored 19 goals and managed 7 assists for the season. That’s the same number of goals as both Harry Kane and Diego Costa, no one has more and so Aguero should not be overlooked. Gameweek 33 sees Manchester City at home to West Ham, who are having a tough run due to injuries. With the reduced gameweek and his price decline, Aguero is a great tip to transfer in and captain this round.
2) Yannick Bolasie £5.5m (Crystal Palace)
In gameweek 32, Alan Pardew’s men made it four wins in row at the weekend, steamrolling Sunderland 4-1 at the Stadium of light. That took Palace over the magical 40 point mark, which pas historically been used as a benchmark for Premier League safety. But with the current for of Crystal Palace, they’ll be looking up the table rather than down, particularly given they overcame Manchester City the week before. The chief destroyer in the win against Sunderland with speedy winger Yannick Bolasie who bagged a hat trick. Bolasie has 3 goals and 4 assists in his past 4 Premier League matches, making him Palace’s top FPL points scorer for the season so far. The Eagles now have two home matches in a row, first against West Bromwich Albion in gameweek 33, and then they’ll entertain Hull City in gameweek 34. Both of those matches look like low hanging fruit for Bolasie & Palace to continue their good form and score some more points for their Fantasy Premier League managers.
3) Kelvin Davis £4.5m (Southampton)
And lastly our third and final pick for Gameweek 33 is a cheaper bargain player, for those FPL managers looking to fill out their starting 11 for the reduced gameweek. For those looking for a bargain goalkeeper players for a top defensive team, look no further than Kelvin Davis. After Southampton’s number one keeper Fraser Forster was injured against Burnley in gameweek 30, Davis has filled in between the sticks for Southampton, keeping 2 clean sheets in 3 appearances so far. Southampton’s win against Hull City last weekend was their 15th clean sheet of the season, with their defense only conceding 22 goals in 32 Premier League matches. For a cut price of £4.5m, you can have the keeper for the best defensive team in the Premier League in your FPL team. Gameweek 33 sees Southampton travel to 10th placed Stoke City, which could well be a scoreless draw between two tough, hard to break down, defensive teams.
