Top Picks for Gameweek 31

That’s all the Fantasy Premier League done for March 2015 as players head out for an international break, but we’re back for Gameweek 31 for the first weekend of April. Gameweek 30 saw the top four clubs all record wins, and the bottom 5 clubs all come up short with no points. The Southampton defensive machine rolled on with their 14th clean sheet of the season, while a Harry Kane hat-tick made him equal Premier League’s top scorer with Diego Costa with 19 goals a piece. Looking ahead to Gameweek 31 this throws us a double gameweek for Aston Villa and QPR. Aston Villa face Manchester United away and QPR at home, and QPR have a double header away from home facing West Bromwich Albion away and then Aston Villa away. So there will be plenty of FPL managers looking to score some extra points with that bonus match this gameweek. Changes for Gameweek 31 need to be finalized by the 11:30am (GMT) on the 4th of April.
Lets check out our top tips for Gameweek 31 for Fantasy Premier League managers:

Top Picks

1) Charlie Austin £6.4m (QPR)

Our first pick for Gameweek 31 the double gameweek man Charlie Austin. The English forward has already had a sensational FPL season given that fact that his club are sitting 19th on the Premier League table. 15 goals and 5 assists have driven Austin’s ownership to 20%, so one in five teams have Austin and are licking their lips at this double gameweek. Although both QPR’s fixtures are away from home, they look to be slightly easier than Aston Villa’s, who face third placed Manchester United as part of their double. Austin’s goal’s have slightly slowed during the second half of the season, though QPR have scored in each of their past 5 Premier League matches, during which Austin has managed 2 goals, an assist and 3 bonus points. It is going to be a uphill battle for QPR to muscle their way out of the relegation spots, so they are going to need to turn things around an fast. Austin has quite the record against QPR’s two opponents in Gameweek 31. Last time QPR faced West Bromwich Albion in the league in December Austin scored a hat-trick in a 3-2 victory at Loftus Road. And against Aston Villa in October Austin scored twice in a 2-0 victory. So having scored 5 goals against these defenses already, our money is on Austin to bag a couple more.

2) Diafra Sakho £5.4m (West Ham)

Our second tip for Gameweek 31 is West Ham United’s Senegalese striker Diafra Sakho. Sakho picked up a goal during gameweek 30 last time out in a 1-0 win against Sunderland. It was a first league win for West Ham in 8 Premier League matches – but a run that included games against 6 of the top 7 Premier League teams. Sakho was signed by Allardyce in the summer from Metz and despite an injury hit season, he’s had an action packed debut season. Sakho has scored 9 goal and 3 assists, which stacks up at nearly a goal every two games. His goal and win against Sunderland have put West Ham on an upward trajectory given their favorable fixture run in to the end of the season. Gameweek 31 sees West Ham traveling to last placed Leicester City, who are winless in 9 matches and have the second worst defense on the league. West Ham are a good bet for the last 8 rounds and Sakho will no doubt be among the goals.

3) Harry Kane £6.4m   (Spurs)

Our third and final pick for Gameweek 31 is Tottenham Hotspurs ace Harry Kane. Having scored a hat-trick in gameweek 30 against Burnley, it was impossible to look past Kane for gameweek 31. Kane now has 19 goals for the season, which puts him on par with Chelsea’s Diego Costa for the golden boot. That has seen his FPL ownership skyrocket to 49%, making Kane the most selected player in the FPL this season. He’ll most likely feature for England during the international break before heading back to London. Spurs have a very nice looking run through early April, with Gameweek 30 taking them to 18th placed Burnley, then it’s a home match to 16th placed Aston Villa and then up to St James’ park to face 12th place Newcastle United. All three of those clubs are in the lower half of the table, and a good chance for more goals from Harry.
