We are back in business, with Fantasy Premier League 2015/16 finally here and kicked off. After many revisions of Fantasy Premier League teams and reading rubbish transfer ‘gossip’ news, the Premier League season 2015/16 is finally rocking & rolling. Hopefully all your off season scouting, player picks and early transfers have paid off so far. Lets do a quick review of the first four Gameweeks of the 2015/16 season and see who the big winners have been.
Gameweeks 1-4 Top Players
1) Vincent Kompany £6.4m (Manchester City)
Manchester City have been the real high flyers for the first 4 gameweeks of EPL this season. Not only have they won all four of their matches, but they’re also kept 4 clean sheets meaning they are yet to concede a goal this season. So it’s natural then that Manchester City defenders are in high demand at the back, and have the top 3 points scoring defenders. City’s captain Vincent Kompany has also bagged two goal, which have given him a haul of 36 points – averaging 8 points a gameweek. His price has skyrocketed from £6.0 to £6.4 in a flash, and that’s only going to go up if they can continue this monstrous defensive performance over the coming weeks. Manchester City look well up for the punt at the title this season, and their summer recruiting gives them quality reinforcements. They’re going to be hard to stop this season, and the scary things is Sergio Aguero isn’t even fully match fit yet.
2) Riyad Mahrez £6.1m (Leicester City)
Claudio Ranieri’s return to the Premier League has been a successful one, with Leicester City currently sitting in third place on the table. Leicester City drew quite a favorable first 6 fixtures to the season, and they are making them count thanks to their Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez. Mahrez is the most transfered in player in the FPL this season so far, due to scoring 4 goals in the first 3 gameweeks of the season. As such, his price has jumped from £5.5 to £6.1m as people jump on the Leicester City bandwagon. Mahrez succumbed to an injury against Bournemouth last match out, so the international break has come at just the right time for him to get some extra recovery time before Aston Villa in gameweek 5. Mahrez managed 4 goals and 5 assists last season, and with 4 goals already this season, looks like he’s in for a much improved points return. Lets see if Leicester can keep ticking over points and achieve safety early this season.
3) Bafétimbi Gomis £7.4m (Swansea City)
Up front, it has been Swansea’s French striker Bafetimbi Gomis that has look the goods so far, having scored a goals in each of the 4 gameweeks to date. That included goals against big guns Chelsea and Manchester United, which has helped Swansea up to 4th place on the premier league table. Gomis has always been a goal scorer, scoring 14 or more goals in his last 3 season in the French Ligue 1 for Lyon before joining Swansea. He’s a powerful striker, in much the style as Wilfried Bony, which has made it easy for him to fill in Bony’s boots. Gomis managed 7 goals last season, but with 4 in 4 matches, looks like he’s going to be a have a breakthrough EPL season.
