Well, well, well, it was the man of the moment Harry Kane who managed to get on the score sheet twice during Gameweek 28 after his double at QPR on Saturday, 15 points was a healthy points return for the man most Captained. After midweek Champions League, we are back for Gameweek 29 of the Fantasy Premier League this weekend. There are only ten more Gameweeks left this season, so FPL managers should start thinking out planning out their final 10 free transfers. Time is running out to catch any foes who sit above you on the table. Changes for Gameweek 29 need to be finalized by the 11:30am (GMT) on the 14th March. Lets check out our top tips for Gameweek 29 for Fantasy Premier League managers:
1) David Silva £9.7m (Manchester City)
Our first pick for Gameweek 29 is Manchester City’s little Spanish maestro David Silva. City look all but certain to be eliminated from the Champions League, again at the hand of Barcelona, which will give them extra freshness and focus in the run in to the end of the season. Silva has been back to his devastating best since returning from injury in December – racking up 10 goals and 6 assists in the Premier League season so far. The fixture list is looking very friendly to City at the moment, who will be looking to bounce back from their defeat to Liverpool in Gameweek 28. Manchester City’s next three Premier League matches are all against lower table teams in relegation battles, which should see a healthy points return from their players. Gameweek 29 sees Manchester City away to 19th placed Burnley, once they should be expecting to get 3 points from. That is followed by a home match against West Bromwich Albion in gameweek 30 and then away to Crystal Palace in gameweek 31. Silva is both a gaol threat and an assist threat, so he’s our tip for a good run over March & April.
2) Marc Wilson £4.3m (Stoke)
Our second tip for Gameweek 29 is Stoke City defender Marc Wilson. Stoke’s defense has sprung up on our radar again after two consecutive clean sheets in Gameweeks 27 & 28 against Hull City and Everton. Those two matches also saw Wilson pick to 5 bonus points for his outstanding display at the back. Stoke are now up to 8th in the Premier League table and within 7 points of Southampton. So the question is, can Stoke build on this and make it 3 clean sheets in a row. Certainly manager Mark Hughes will be hoping so. Gameweek 29 sees Stoke travel to West Bromwich Albion, who are having their own defensive revolution under new manager Tony Pulis. With both teams lacking true creative flair, this one could quite easily fizzle out into a goalless draw. Gameweek 30 then sees Stoke at home to Crystal Palace. It’ll be a classic mid-table battle which not too much interest in the result, with both teams looking secure in the top flight and with no hope of European places. I’m backing Mark Hughes to keep a tight ship at the back for the final 10 matches of the season.
3) Harry Kane £6.2m (Spurs)
Our last pick for Gameweek 29 is once again the man in red hot form, Harry Kane. The kid is simply a goal machine, having picked up another 2 goals last weekend against QPR – Kane’s tally is now 16 EPL goals for the season – including 8 goals in his last 6 premier league matches. There seems to be no just stopping him, and his FPL ownership in reflective of this, with 48% of teams now containing Harry Kane. Gameweek 29 is a tricky fixture for Spurs, who will be away to Manchester United. United were sent crashing out of the FA Cup on Monday night at the hands of Arsenal. What is more, british record transfer signing Angel Di Maria was sent off for a second bookable offense and now misses the Spurs match through suspension. So there is no better time to face Manchester United than now, and Kane might be the man to pierce the leaky United defense once more. Looking further ahead, the fixture list is very kind to Spurs as they have lower table teams through gameweks 30-34, with matches at home to Leicester and Aston Villa, and away to Burnley and Newcastle. It’s the perfect time for Kane to hit top form and push for a haul of 25-30 goals for the season.
