It’s time for the final gameweek of the year. Yes, NYE + FPL = Fantasy Football awesomeness! Gameweek 19 also marks the halfway point in the season, with all teams playing each other once. Chelsea once again picked up a win to stat top of the table for New Years. Even without Costa & Kante, they were too strong for Bournemouth. Our pick last week, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, was the top points scorer for gameweek 18 thanks to a goal and 2 assists in Manchester United’s 3-1 win over Sunderland. Both Sergio Aguero and Diego Costa will be eligible to play, having served their suspensions. The deadline for changes to your teams for Gameweek 19 is 7pm GMT December 30th, ensure you have all your transfers, wildcards and captain nominations locked in before hand.
Without further ado, lets look at our top 3 player picks for gameweek 19:
Top Player Tips
1) Zlatan Ibrahimovic £11.4 (Manchester United)
Three weeks in a row now, you just can’t stop the big Swede at the moment! He looked like he was toying with the Sunderland defense at times last weekend, on his way to a goal and 2 assists. That takes him to 12 league goals for the season, including 8 goals from the last 8 gameweeks. With both Sergio Aguero and Diego Costa eligible to play this round, FPL managers have a tough decision to make around their premium forward. Ibrahimovic seems like he’s to too hot to drop for us right now. Manchester United finish the year with their second home fixture on the trot against Middlesbrough.
2) Nathan Aké £4.4 Bournemouth (Bournemouth)
If you’re looking for cheap cover at the back to work Sergio Aguero back into your team, then look no further than Bournemouth Nathan Aké. Aké is an up and coming defensive player for Chelsea, but is on loan for the season at Bournemouth (which is why he was not eligible to play his parent club Chelsea in Gameweek 18). Ake has put in some impressive preformance over the past few weeks, which have resulted in an extended run in the starting 11 for him. From his 6 starts the season, Ake has 2 clean sheets, 6 bonus points and 3 league goals! His current return is 5.3 points per match, which is impressive for a £4.4 pried defender. Bournemouth travel to Wales to face manager-less, 19th placed Swansea City in gameweek 19. Ake’s ownership has jumped up to 6.1% over the past few weeks, so get in early before another price rise.
3) Joel Robles £4.7 (Everton)
Out third and final player pick for gameweek 19 is Everton’s number two keeper Joel Robles. Robles comes in for Maarten Stekelenburg, who picked up and injury and won’t be back till mid January. And another keeper injury, this time to Sunderland’s Jordan Pickford, means there will be a lot of FPL managers in the market for a goalkeeper. Joel Robles has 2 clean sheets from two league starts this season, including a clean sheet against defending champions Leicester City in gameweek 18. Gameweek 19 sees Everton face bottom of the table Hull, who are conceding 2.17 goals per game this season. Everton made an interesting switch to 3 at the back against Leicester, incorporating Seamus Coleman and Leighton Baines as wing-backs. That change in formation brought a clean sheet and a win for Koeman’s men last time out, so it’s a perfect time to be facing Hull full of confidence.
