Gameweek 16 Top Tips

Mid-week Premier League is here so don’t get caught out having not picked your team! Get those captain picks in before the deadline. Chelsea marched on at the top of the table thanks to another goal from the leagues top scorer, Diego Costa. Jamie Vardy returned to his old self with an impressive hattrick against Manchester City, which made him the top points scorer for gameweek 15. The deadline for Fantasy Premier League gameweek 16 is 18:45am GMT December 13th, so ensure you have all your transfers, wildcards and captain nominations locked in before hand. Lets have a look at our player tips for the gameweek:

Top Player Tips

1) Michail Antonio £6.7 (West Ham)

Michail Antonio £6.7 (West Ham)
Our first tip is West Ham winger Michail Antonio, who returned to the starting lineup for West Ham and struck a goal against Liverpool. Antonio now has 7 goals and an assists this season, and looks sure to well surpass his haul of 8 goals and 7 assists last season. West Ham have been incredibly inconsistent this season, under delivering on the squads potential. Antonio has been the one bright spark, but with Dimitri Payet now starting to find some form (also scoring at Liverpool) and Andy Carroll returning from injury – West Ham may have turned the corner just in time for Christmas. West Ham now have back to back home fixtures against Burnley & Hull, followed by a visit to Swansea. These looks like a great set of fixtures for West Ham to get on a run of form and for Michail Antonio to continue to return amount of points.

2) Phil Jones £4.7 (Manchester United)

Phil Jones £4.7 (Manchester United)
Manchester United recorded their 5th clean sheet of the season last weekend against Spurs, which is no great accomplishment in itself. But United conceded only 1 goal in each of their 4 preceding matches. So they are a solid defensive unit, and that could well translate into more clean sheets over the festive period. One of the key defensive players who is making an impact since his return to the starting eleven is Phil Jones. Jones has earned his place in the team the hard way, but now seems to have gained the trust of Jose Mourinho. At just £4.7 Jones is an absolute steal for FPL managers to have in their defense. United do have the equal 5th best defense in the league. Manchester United’s fixture run is also extremely enticing, facing Crystal Palace (Away) in gameweek 16 followed by; West Brom (Away), Sunderland (Home), Middlesbrough (Home) and West Ham (Away). They avoid all the heavy hitter, so jump on the Phil Jones early as his price is bound to rise in the coming gameweeks.

3) Diego Costa £10.9 (Chelsea)

Diego Costa £10.9 (Chelsea)
Our third and final tip for gameweek 16 is the man of the moment, the EPL player of the month, Diego Costa. Costa’s goal against West Bromwich Albion in Gameweek 15 was his 12th of the season and sends him clear at the top of the goal scorers table in the league this season. Costa is the focal point of most Chelsea attacks, either taking it on himself and linking the play up to Hazard and Pedro on his flanks. One risk with Costa is that he is sitting on 4 yellow cards, and will pick up a 1 mast suspension if he receives one more. But so far so good, no bookings in the past 9 league matches. This season is Costa with discipline! And his fine run of scoring only looks like continuing when you look ahead at Chelsea’s fixtures.
In gameweek 16 Chelsea travel to Sunderland bottom of the table. It’s a classic 1st vs 20th, David vs Goliath match – but with Costa in this form it’s hard to see him not getting a swag of points. Chelsea then face Crystal Palace (Away), Bournemouth (Home) and Stoke (Home) to round out 2016. Costa’s ownership is still only at 52.2%, but he seems like a must have player this season.
