There are transfers aplenty in the lead up to Gameweek 15 of the Fantasy Premier League this weekend. A 4 match ban for Sergio Aguero, who picked up for a red card in City’s loss to Chelsea, has led to more than 800,000 managers transferring him out of their teams. Chelsea’s win sent them 3 points clear at the top of the table, while an Alexis Sanchez hattrick made him the top scorer for the round. While West Bromwich Albions win sends then up to 7th in the league. FPL managers be aware that there is a round midweek EPL matches for Gameweek 16, so you’ll have just a few days to make any changes to your team. The deadline for gameweek 15 is 11:30am GMT December 10th, so ensure you have all your transfers, wildcards and captain nominations locked in before hand. Lets have a look at our player tips for the gameweek:
Top Player Tips
1) Harry Kane £11.2 (Spurs)
Tottenham Hotspur’s main striker, Harry Kane, seems like the most straight forward like for like transfer option for many managers with Sergio Aguero. The Englishman has recently returned from injury and has 5 goals in is returning 4 matches in the league (Plus 8 bonus points along the way too). That has also seen an uplift in Spurs results of late, which shows you just how important Kane is to their team. Kane also takes the penalties for Spurs, so he’s not just a threat from open play. Spurs take on Manchester United in Gameweek 15 at Old Trafford, which is a difficult fixture – although Manchester United haven’t kept a clean sheet in 4 matches. Spurs will be hoping to emulate the 4-0 thrashing that London rivals Chelsea handed to United back in Gameweek 9. The attractiveness of Harry Kane for FPL managers is more around his run of fixtures through Christmas. After United, Spurs have a nice double up of home fixtures, facing; Hull (Home), Burnley (Home), Southampton (Away) and Watford (Away). So if you’re just looking for someone to pick up points during Aguero’s suspension, then that run looks good for Kane to bag some goals.
2) Victor Anichebe £4.7 (Sunderland)
Another option for Sergio Aguero owners is to invest in a cheaper striking option in order to free up those funds for the midfield. Alexis Sanchez is looking like a must have for fantasy teams this year, but he doesn’t come cheap. Victor Anichebe’s return to the Sunderland starting 11 has seen them pick of 3 wins from their last 4 matches. Anichebe himself has 3 goals and an assist from his last 4 league matches, taking the pressure off leading man Jermain Defoe. H’s also picked up 5 bonus points on that run. At just £4.7 Anichebe is priced like a cheap midfielder, but is a starting striker. Through December’s hectic fixture congestion, it’s super important to have as many players in your squad as you can who are regular starters. Sunderland’s opponents for Gameweek 15 are Swansea City. Both teams are struggling down the bottom of the table, with Sunderland in 18th and Swansea at the bottom in 20th. But Sunderland’s form is on the rise whereas Swansea have let in 9 goals in their last 2 league matches. It’s a defense that is non-existent at times, and we think there are goals in this one for Sunderland’s attack.
3) Gylfi Sigurdsson £7.4 (Swansea)
Our third and final pick for gameweek 15 is former Spurs midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson. This may seem like a bit of a strange one at first look, as Swansea is at the bottom of the league table after all. But while their league position couldn’t get any worse, they are still scoring goals and creating chances. Sigurdsson is one of the most talented attacking midfielders in the league, and has 4 league goals and 4 assists to his name for the season already. That include 2 goals and 3 assists in their last 5 matches. If there are points to be scored from Swansea players, then he;s your guy. Swansea also have the most favourable run of fixtures over the next 6 gameweeks, where they avoid all of the ‘big’ clubs who are pushing for the title or Champions League football. That run sees them face; Sunderland (Home), West Bromwich Albion (Away), Middlesbrough (Away), West Ham (Home), Bournemouth (Home) and Crystal Palace (Away). This run of matches will pretty much decide their fate for the season. It is full of opportunity for goals and wins, with only West Bromwich Albion currently in the top half of the table.
