Clean Sheet Details

Details on clean sheet scoring highlighted in in the Rules on Fantasy Premier League:
During the season, your fantasy football players will be allocated points based on their performance in the Barclays Premier League.
– For a clean sheet by a goalkeeper or defender is awarded 4 points

In terms of value for money, it’s hard to look past defenders on the Fantasy Premier League. Their pricing is much more reasonable that that of top-tier Forwards or Midfielders. For teams that are known for keeping a high number of clean sheets throughout the thirty eight match season, you can quite easily pick up over 50 points for defenders from clean sheets. In season 2014/15, Laurent Koscielny of Arsenal finished with the most clean sheets in the Fantasy Premier League with 17 clean sheets. That’s 4×17 = 68 points from clean sheets. Plus the two points for each of those 17 appearances, 68 + (2×17) = 102 points. Then plus other appearances, bonus points, goals and assists and Koscielny finished the season with 155 points.

This was far more than even say Raheem Sterling, who was also more expensive. Although Koscielny managed the most individual clean sheets, it was Chelsea who managed the most clean sheets as a team with 18 clean sheets. But no one player participated in all 18 of those, mainly due to squad rotation thanks to cup demands. Behind Chelsea and Arsenal was Manchester City, with 16 cleans sheets, and then Southampton with 15 clean sheets. Sticking to those teams that don’t conceded many goals through out the season is the best approach to maximize clean sheets points.
